A structured starting point

Discover. Identify. Prioritize.

The review creates clarity before execution, without assuming every existing supplier or process should change.

01

Discover

Define the scope, gather information, and understand current needs and constraints.

02

Identify

Surface sourcing gaps, coordination opportunities, touchpoints, and dependencies.

03

Prioritize

Organize findings into practical next steps and a potential phased roadmap.

What you take away

Clarity you can
put to work.

The review is designed to create a useful decision framework—not a generic list of recommendations.

01

Current-state view

A clearer picture of needs, suppliers, touchpoints, and dependencies.

02

Priority opportunities

Areas where greater coordination, visibility, or sourcing support may add value.

03

Recommended sequence

Practical priorities organized around timing, readiness, and business impact.

04

Potential 90-day path

A phased direction for moving from insight to authorized execution.

01

What the Review May Examine

Depending on scope, the review may examine sourcing categories, supplier fragmentation, recurring purchases, product specifications, packaging, print and marketing materials, branded merchandise, sustainable alternatives, fulfillment, inventory, approval processes, brand consistency, and upcoming initiatives.

Discovery may include interviews, questionnaires, samples, existing documents, product lists, supplier information, usage estimates, budgets, and planned events or growth initiatives. Access to complete and accurate information affects the depth of the findings.

02

Findings and Recommendations

CIVSourcing organizes observations into practical themes. These may include immediate sourcing needs, opportunities to consolidate supplier coordination, specifications that require clarification, packaging or brand-experience gaps, replenishment risks, material alternatives, and programs that could benefit from a more integrated approach.

Recommendations are prioritized according to factors such as urgency, potential business value, effort, dependencies, timing, and available information. Where appropriate, options may be grouped into near-term actions, future initiatives, and items requiring additional investigation.

03

Establishing a Useful Scope

A focused review produces more useful results than an unlimited request to examine everything. Before work begins, CIVSourcing and the client define the categories, locations, documents, stakeholders, time period, and desired outcomes included in the assessment. The scope also identifies information the client will provide and any limitations affecting the analysis. This structure keeps the review practical, allows effort to be estimated, and ensures that recommendations address the areas most important to the organization. Findings reflect the information available during the review period.
